Variations in Litterfall Dynamics, C:N:P Stoichiometry and Associated Nutrient Return in Pure and Mixed Stands of Camphor Tree and Masson Pine Forests

Litterfall, directly and indirectly, affects the soil physicochemical properties, microbial activity, diversity of fauna flora by adding organic matter nutrients to soil. This study explores litterfall dynamics such as production, litter decomposition rate, associated nutrient return in three forest types, that is, camphor tree (CTF), Masson pine (MPF), mixed (CMF), subtropical China. Results showed CMF had highest mean annual production (4.30 ± 0.22 t ha ?1 ), which was significantly higher than MPF (3.41 0.25 ) CTF (3.26 0.17 ). Leaf represented major fraction litterfall, constituting over 71% total mass types. The contribution branch 16.3, 8.9, 16.9%, miscellaneous 12.6, 18.9, 11.1% CTF, MPF, CMF, respectively. concentration macronutrients ranked N > Ca K Mg P all fractions. macronutrient from order (74.2 kg ?yr (70.7 (33.6 rate leaf throughout forests.
